Amanda Farías is a proud Bronx native and the first Latina Majority Leader of the New York City Council. Born and raised in Soundview, Amanda is a second-generation Afro-Latina of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent. Her roots in District 18 shaped her passion for public service and her mission to uplift working-class families.

With a history of fighting for equity, housing stability, and educational opportunities, Amanda has become a champion for the people. As Chair of the Committee on Economic Development, she has passed transformative legislation that protects local jobs, supports small businesses, and promotes equitable transit access.
